Treadmills

The workout programs that it carries are of easy intensity that works affectively on the joints and the body parts. The best part about exercise bikes is that they are the most economically priced fitness equipments. And the bad part is that they have a very low calorie burning ratio. Thus if you are planning to use a bike to lose weight then you must put in some extra hard work.

Exercise bikes are the most ancient in the fitness industry. But with technological innovations, their dying numbers have consequently geared up in the market. The machine caters to the aspect of fitness by allowing the user to maintain their heart rates without putting stress on knees, feet, hips and ankles. The exercise bikes come with built-in resistance features that help you achieve your desired goals. Now a days, there are several models that offer you electronic setups.

Comparing your health needs with the above mentioned features of treadmills, elliptical trainers and exercise bikes, you can make your health equipment pick. And enjoy your workouts for a healthy life! All the best!

If biking is your passion then you must be one of those individuals who are fussy about their machines. Chances are that the convenience and the comfort levels of your bike matter a lot to you. If this be so, then go in for the folding bikes. And in particular, the Dahon folding bikes should be your choice.

What Are Folding Bikes?

Folding bikes are bicycles with a lot of hinges and joints that can be folded up to trim the size of the bike. And with the bicycle frame brought down to a manageably wieldy size, you can carry it around in public transport; have it stashed away in your car or in some corner of your apartment. Folding bikes also don?t require much of a parking space, making it easy for you to travel with it.

Folding Bikes From Dahon

Dahon is a name to reckon within the bicycle manufacturing world and the leader in the production of folding bikes. In fact, this Los Angeles-based company is a trailblazer of sorts when it comes to folding bike technology. The company has perfected the technology and the fact that it has till now sold more than 2 million of these bikes in more than 30 countries is ample testimony to its expertise.

Dahon is never short on ideas when it comes to folding bikes. It has several innovative and groundbreaking bike models to its credit, all hugely popular amongst the biking fanatics.

For instance, you have the Allegro make that has its frame modeled upon the famous Ritchey Logic frame. And you can be rest assured about the quality of the machine because the frame is hand-welded from the Italian-made Ritchey WCS steel tubing. However, the prime allure of this Dahon make is the fact that it can be bundled into a small suitcase in only about 10-15 minutes.

The very popular Ciao P5 folding bike from Dahon is a biker?s delight, and especially the rookies, people with back or leg injuries and women wearing flowing dresses. This stylish bike comes with an assortment of bells and whistles like the Hella lighting system to help you in the dark; SKS mud guards to ensure that the ride doesn?t turn out to be too muddy and also an ArcLight rack to hold your paraphernalia.

Dahon has broken all myths regarding the folding bikes being fragile with its Fuego model. When folded, this pint-sized dynamite is basically a full-suspension MTB designed to suit the demands of pro-standard Marathon/Enduro riding. This is a robust bike featuring a double-butted 7005 aluminum frame that also incorporates 4-4.5 inches of front and rear travel suspension, the Patented Interlock Joint Technology and the legendary Joe Murray LSR linkage technology and Threshold Linkage Design. Furthermore, the whole ensemble, elaborate though it may sound, can be packed into an airline suitcase.

Why Go In For A Dahon Folding Bike?

Amidst the plethora of brands jostling for your attention in the market, Dahon has been pretty quick to win the favors from the bikers. And for all the right reasons too.

A constant strive towards perfection and development has meant that Dahon goes in for an extensive R&D regime. It is thus no wonder that the Dahon folding bike comes in so many different forms and designs, all of them rivaling and most times surpassing the best in the market.

Still harping on this issue, Dahon is a trendsetter of sorts, with more than 95% of the currently prevalent folding bike technology being along the lines of the Dahon technology.

Quality is the hallmark of all Dahon bikes. This is because the bike parts are obtained from the very best manufacturers all around the world.

Go in for a Dahon folding bike. You can bask in the thought that you will be taking convenience and comfort along with you in your ride.

Good ole mini bikes, an evolution from the go cart, have been a form of recreation and fun for many decades now. Mini Bikes are a great way to put some additional fun and entertainment into those outdoor and camping vacations. Being relatively small and not very heavy, mini bikes are pretty easy to find a spot for to take along no matter where you may be heading. Adults and kids alike can have a lot of fun taking a spin on one of these classics.

Still today, these two wheeled wonders are doing their part to take outdoor recreation to the next level. Popular manufacturers of past like Rupp and Fox took advantage of this excitement in the 50′s, 60′s and even into the 70′s as these small machines were a huge craze to the masses. Manco still to this day makes various versions of this old time favorite. There are still plans available that one can purchase and use to make their own homemade frame. Even kits can still be found that one can build and assemble themselves which saves a few dollars on a minibike purchase. The original mini bike was a solid steel frame welded together, but as time went on they started adding springs in the forks and to the rear of the frame as shock absorbers, making it a much smoother to ride. Some of the latest versions do have shock absorbers just like motorcycles.

Originally they were powered mainly by four cycle Briggs & Stratton and Tecumseh engines. These were very popular choices of days past. Occasionally you might find a Kohler engine here or there. Today these old favorites are still in use along with some of the new manufacturers like, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki. Most of the original mini bikes were designed with a centrifugal clutch, chain and sprocket assemblies to drive them. As the newer two cycle engines came into the picture, these smaller cc engines were much like their counterpart, larger motorcycles. They included a gearbox and shift lever that changes ratios and gives a variety of ranges to use depending on the terrain or need of the driver.

The first brake systems were simply a steel pad that was mounted in front of the rear tire and actuated with a metal rod attached that was pushed by the drivers foot to make the steel pad rub on the tire creating friction to stop the bike. It then evolved to drum brakes that were located inside of a steel hub attached to the main drive sprocket on the rear tire. A cable was connected to an actuating lever of the brake shoes and usually ran up to the handle bars and hooked to a lever much like regular bikes use today. When the lever is squeezed by the driver on the handle bars, a cable pulls the brake actuator and applies the brake shoes to the drum. Finally instead of a brake drum system, a rotor was used and a caliper which holds disk brake pads. The pads squeeze the rotor when a lever on the handle bars is applied by the driver through a cable. Some of the more sophisticated and expensive mini bikes actually have hydraulically applied drum or disk brakes much like that on an automobile.

Mini bikes have withstood the test of time and still play a big part in creating excitement and fun for many families. It doesn’t matter if it’s summer or winter, the mini bike can give everyone something to do outside year around and have a real blast.

Evaluating your needs and wants will help you to determine how best to customize your bike. You can choose to order a custom bike online or you can go to your local bike store.

If you are serious about your bicycling, then you will want to consider a custom bicycle over one that is mass-produced. While mass-produced bicycles are all made in the same way, a custom bicycle is custom fitted to the exact measurement of the person who is going to be doing the riding. This means that it fits the person?s body exactly and it will help to make the cycling more comfortable and efficient. A mass-produced bicycle is more difficult to make to fit, so the rider may find that it is more difficult to compensate for the issues that are caused by a poor fit.

You need to first determine what kind of bicycle riding that you are going to do before you have a bicycle custom-made for you. This will help the designer to make the kind of bike that will best meet your needs and wants. Some questions that you may want to start with include: Are you riding for fun? If you are, then who are you going to ride with? Where are you going to ride and how far are you going to be riding? Answering all of these questions will help you and the designer to customize the perfect bike for your body and your riding, so that you will have the best edge possible in your bicycling.

Another option that you have with getting a custom bicycle is that you determine what it looks like. This can give you a wonderful opportunity to make it into the visual statement that you want. Some bicyclists are more concerned about the performance, but style is become more important for many cyclists. They are excited about being able to customize their bicycle to make it look more interesting and to express their own personality. It is not just mountain and racing bikes that are being customized ? choppers, low riders, and beach cruisers are also being customized with fantastic results. The bicycling manufacturers are offering parts and accessories in many different colors and materials to help make it easier for consumers to personalize their bike according to their own desires and personality.

There are a wide number of manufacturers that you can purchase different components from for your cycle. The Internet is a great source for finding information about different components, including the styles and prices, because you can look any time of the night or day with no pushy salesperson. This can help you narrow down your choices so that you can make the best decision for you. If you want to customize a bike for yourself, but you cannot find a shop or cannot take the time to visit a shop, then you will find that there are online stores that give directions on how to take the proper measurements so that they can customize a bike for you. This is a great option if you are unable to find a shop to customize a bike for you.

Many people love their Harley Davidson even when they are stuck on the side of the road all day, waiting for someone to help them fix it or wait for a two truck to lift it up onto a flat bed. Every year on the way to Sturgis hundreds of people never make it on their Harley Davidson because the bike breaks down in the middle of nowhere and they are stuck with the wind howling and sitting on their butts. You can see them for hundreds and hundreds of miles each year coming from every direction stuck on the side of the road.

Why are race bikes better than Harley Davidson? Well they use less gasoline for one reason. They go faster too and accelerate twice as fast. The Japanese race bikes are also more trouble free and do not break down as must. Japanese race bikes cost less money to by. Is that all? No, that is not all I am just getting warmed up which takes Harley Davidson a few minutes longer than Japanese Race Bikes.

Japanese race bikes are safer to control and more stable, more maneuverable and lighter weight. Japanese bikes can stop faster and thus prevent accidents too. Just about everything a Harley Davidson can do a Japanese Race Bike can do better, more efficiently and cheaper too. So, why do people buy Harley Davidson Motorcycles? Well it is part of the branding image and the Harley Davidson riders just think they look cool acting like sneaky bad guys. Silly group of folks who have never grown up; that is why I like Harley Davidson; I refuse to grow up.

There’s something beautiful about beach cruiser bikes. Where else will guys get such a chance to show off their muscles? Nowhere, except maybe at the gym. Girls too can show off their assets, in a short skirt and a pair of sunglasses. Don?t forget to talk on the cell phone too, to show how many things you can do at once. Beach cruisers, especially at certain California and East Coast campuses have been associated with an easy-going neo-hippie type of lifestyle, but, the funny thing is that in many cases, the kids? parents have as strong an attraction to beach cruisers as the college kids do. You can see families headed by the 40-something mom, dad or both leading the kids all riding beach cruisers or low rider bikes.

The opalescent colors available these days are far more impressive and varied then those from the 1950s. In terms of a scene or a lifestyle, beach cruisers really blend in at places like Huntington Beach and Venice, California, on the beach. Part of the fun is the different ways these simple machines can be decorated. The basket, the tire fenders and the back rack are excellent places for painting on dragons and other fantasy creatures. The fat 2-inch tires are really great for riding on the boardwalk or even on beach sand if it’s not too deep.

Of course these bikes are made for fairly flat areas, ideally near a lake, a river or the ocean. If you are scaling up lots of hills and trying to hit top speeds you would be better off with a mountain bike or some sort of multi-speed racing bike.

For some, the retro-chic can be almost overwhelming. Enjoying the lifestyle, getting out and getting fresh air, either by themselves or with their kids can be a pretty strong attraction even for baby boomers. It draws people back to the days of “hanging out” and striking innocent or not so innocent conversations with strangers. Hanging out by the seashore or a lake is an opportunity to build metaphoric or real castles in the sand. Cook-outs in the countryside can be just as nice, because the stable and upright beach cruisers easily allow themselves to be used to carry food, drink and other accoutrements of relaxation and wasting time. Just don’t forget to bring the mosquito repellent,

Beach cruisers have large comfortable seats and large handlebars to navigate and be at ease. The colors are the new addition, along with the designs that people enthusiastically add to their bicycles. A few beach cruisers are being made with 3- speeds and more, for more varied terrain, but this does make the significant sacrifice of giving up the lifestyle fantasy. You are better off looking at the two methods that you have to transport your goodies on the way to your little hideaway. One is to have a backpack on your shoulders, which is easy when you are riding in an upright position, unlike those squinted down positions you are in when you’re on a speed racer. The other is the little basket in the front, which may be a little too cute for some young guys, although definitely utilitarian. The choice is yours.

Choosing The Right Type Of Exercise Bikes

Submitted By: Pencil Writer

In today’s world, with everyone’s lifestyles and the patterns of living getting changed regularly, keeping fit has become a very important thing. Exercises have become the norm of the day. It is important that one exercises and works out in order to shed those extra pounds and also to keep fit. Exercise bikes play a very important role in this daily routine and helps keep oneself in shape.

These bikes are a very useful source of exercise as they give a very good work-out for all the parts of the body. So apart from jogging people can also try out cycling in these exercise bikes for extra fitness. Many cycles also come with a meter that shows the amount of calories lost, the distance traveled, mileage, time pedaled etc.

Choosing the right kind of exercise bike is a very important thing. The first thing to be checked is the comfort levels of the user; the more comfortable the seating and the other arrangements, the more entertaining and enthusiastic the exercise. Mainly, there are four basic types of exercise bikes, the first being the upright bike. They are similar to the outdoor cycles and have a seat and pedals that can be pedaled. The next type is the recumbent type, which has the seat placed very low, parallel to the ground level. The pedals are in the front side, so that the legs do not have to bend a lot. Also the seat has a back support that is very comfortable to use.

The semi-recumbent is the next type. They have a higher seat position than the normal recumbent types and also the seat is inclined so that elderly people can get down the cycle easily. The dual action bike is the fourth type. These are the perfect ones for the whole-body work-out, as both the handle bars and the pedals also are movable, thus facilitating the hands and legs to move. Some bikes have a certain weight capacity, and cannot load more than that particular weight. So it is important to have a look at that before purchasing the bike.

Resistance is another important factor to be considered while buying the exercise cycle. It is the pressure that is experienced while cycling the exercise bike. Depending upon the need to reduce weight, the resistance has to be adjusted on the bike; the more the resistance, the more difficult it is to pedal the cycle, which helps in a rigorous work-out plan. There are various types of resistance in bikes, the first type being Magnetic type. This type is found more in professional gyms. It is noise-free and is quite smooth to use. The resistance power can be adjusted as well. The next type is the Air resistance, where a fan is fixed to the pedal. The more the pedal is pressed, the more the resistance and the faster the fan would swing. In the third type called direct tension, the user adjusts the resistance according to the need, with the help of knobs. The fourth type is the Flywheel, wherein the resistance is taken care of a big wheel, and as the pedal is moved, the wheel also moves.

Exercise bikes are very important to keep fit and also for following a rigorous exercise and fitness regime. What more, with the ease of shedding weight even while watching TV or the favorite movie, in the cosiness of one’s home, what more can one ask for! But it is definitely important to consult one’s regular doctor before getting into these exercises as they are strenuous and might not be advised for people with hypertension, high diabetes etc.

How to choose a mountain bike depends on what you are going to do with it, if all you want your new mountain bike for is going for a nice leisurely ride on the canal path or a ride in the woods with the dog, well you wont need a full suspension downhill machine with 4 inch travel on the forks and a fully articulated rear end with damping and rebound control.

+ Where to Start From.

If you do want to go for an easy ride in the park you don?t need to spend too much, if you think you will do any off-road riding then big tread tires maybe all you need, but if you think you might try some rough stuff then you will need suspension. Gears will probably be Shimano, brakes must be V-brakes, but could be made by a few different manufacturers, all the rest of the MTB components will depend on how much you can spend. If you go to your local bike shop or big sports store and see what they?ve got to offer, then buy it or have look on the Internet and maybe you?ll find the same thing at a better price.

+ The Next Step Up.

So maybe you want to be a bit more adventurous, more off-road, more forest tracks and dry boulder river beds, then you?ll need something a little lighter, with suspension forks. All this will cost you more money, but will be worth it for the extra enjoyment and adventure. With a better mountain bike it will have a sportier handling and because it is lighter, it will be easier to struggle up the hills before you come flying down the other side. The components will again be Shimano and the quality will depend on how much money you can spend. V-brakes and Rapid-fire gear shifters, along with Shimano chain set, bottom bracket and headset. Handle bars, stem and seat pin should be alloy and along with a comfortable saddle you?ll be set to take to the hills.

+ More Money, More Bike.

The next rung up on the mountain bike ladder would be good enough to race on. There are many to choose from, get on the net and surf the bike manufacturers sites and all the shop sites along with the magazines for juicy photos of the bikes. The top manufacturers in this price range, I would say are: – Trek, Giant, Specialized and Cannondale, these companies make the nicest frames with the best mountain bike parts available at the price, gears will be either Shimano or SRAM, brakes could be V-brakes or cable disc brakes, both are very good and light, most of the other MTB parts, of course will be Shimano and as usual get the best you can afford. There are many combinations of hubs and rims to make up your wheels; hubs from Shimano and rims form Mavic are the usual mix. Then you have to choose which suspension forks to put on you bike, you may not get a choice, depending on which bike you buy, the main ones are Suntour, Marzocchi, Manitou, Fox, RockShox and RST, buy any of these and you wont go far wrong.

+ Top Bikes?. Top Money.

If you want what the professionals ride you will have to pay a lot of money a professional MTB. As with road bike at the top of the range, you can specify what you want to build up your dream bike. Top bikes frames to spend your money on could be Klien, Scott, Rocky Mountain, Gary Fisher, Santa Cruz and K2; these are some of the most sought after bike frames in the world and would be the envy of your friends. Probably the best forks to put on your frame would be RockShox SID?s these are light and do all the things you need with control of all functions, there are many other to also to consider, look at how much travel they have and the rebound and damping systems. Gears again will be either SRAM or Shimano Rapid fire, XT or XTR, more money could be spent on carbon or very light alloy cranks, the brakes should be hydraulic discs from Hayes, Pace or Magura or stick to the trusted V-bakes. Wheels from Shimano or Mavic or some fancy carbon wheels, but remember they will have to take a lot of punishment, so maybe better to go for reliability over light weight expense. Carbon handle bars, stem and seat pin and a light weight race saddle and Time or Shimano SPD clipless pedals, then your choice of tires will depend on what terrain and ground conditions you are going to ride on.

+ And Downhilling?

Downhill bikes are very different, more like a cross country motor bike, but without the engine, low center of gravity and a lot of travel on the suspension on the forks and the rear end, disc brakes, wide rims and fat tires, gears are only at the back as usually a single chain set is used. Unless your going to do a lot of downhill racing then there isn?t much point in buying one as you have to get up the hill first before you can come down and as light weight is not an issue with downhill bikes, they are very heavy to get up hill with out the use of a tow rope or a ski lift.
